Sketches

Pencil Sketches

I created this pencil sketch of a deer for one of my projects at college, the project was about trees therefore I decided to link my project to deer as they often live in woods, I also liked the similarities between deer horns and branches. I am really pleased with this sketch and I really enjoyed drawing or painting deer as they always stand in very proud poses creating a perfect picture.

This is a pencil sketch of a horse that I created for my coursework at GCSE. I used some very soft B pencils to create this dark moody sketch. I feel that this was one of my best sketches at GCSE however I feel that my drawing skills have dramatically improved since creating this.

I created this pencil sketch of a ewe and her lamb in the summer holidays before I started college. To create this sketch I worked from another artists drawing, the original drawing was absoloutely amazing it almost looked like a photograph. I love looking at other artists work to learn new skills and get inspiration for my own work.

I created this sketch of a little girl for one of my projects at college, we were asked to focus on an issue in the world that we would like to change therefore I decided that I would like to prevent child abuse. I gathered together lots of research about child abuse and i also discovered some unbelievable facts, I got the original image of this sad scruffy little girl off of the NSPCC website I also created lots more sketches and paintings of upset and scared children. For my final piece I created a postcard with an image that I created on it and the shocking fact 'Every 10 days a child is killed at the hands of their parents'.

This is another pencil sketch of a deer that I created for my college project.

I created this pencil sketch of a little boy crying for one of my college projects about preventing child abuse.
Charcoal Drawings

This is another pencil sketch that I created for my coursework at GCSE, there are many things that I would change about this drawing now, however I feel that it is interesting to look back and see how my skills have improved over time.

I created this charcoal drawing of a deer for one of my college projects, I am really pleased with this sketch even though it is a very simple silhouette I feel that it looks very dramatic and creates a mysterious mood.

Biro Drawings

I created this charcoal drawing of a deer on canvas and entered it in the Young Farmers Club County Rally 2011 it won 1st prize. I really liked working with charcoal onto canvas as it added texture to my drawing making it look more interesting and professional.

I created this Biro drawing of a horse for my coursework at GCSE, I like working with biro because it really makes you think carefully and consider where you are going to draw as you obviously cannot rub the biro out if you make a mistake. I was very pleased with the final outcome of my drawing as I feel that I managed to capture the movement of the horse within the drawing.

This Biro drawing was also part of my coursework at GCSE as we had to demonsrate that we were able to work in lots of different media. This is a drawing of Leona Lewis looking back there are a few things that I would change about his drawing, however I did enjoy creating this drawing and learning different types of mark making to create darker and lighter areas with a Biro without 'scribbling'; I found that the best form of mark making was crosshatching.
